Bad Tasting Almond Milk

When it comes to veganism, I believe in replacement. Veganism should not be a sacrifice. You simply take an animal product (such as cows milk) and simply replace it with a plant products (such as soy milk or almond milk).

Lately I have noticed many cafes in Melbourne, Australia giving customers the option of using almond milk in their coffee. However, a few days ago I tried an almond latte at a cafe that has only recently offered almond milk (after I unsuccessfully tried to order one), and it tasted bad. To be honest, it tasted like dairy milk. Just to be sure, I ordered another almond latte from them and watched them make it. They definitely used almond milk. The almond milk brand they used was Almond Breeze Barista Blend.

I kept trying different almond milk lattes from different cafes until I found one that was right for me.

The lesson here is rest almond milk is variable. There are many different types if almond milk on the market. If one type of almond milk or almond milk coffee doesn't taste right, simply try another. Don't give up on almond milk.

Soy Milk is Healthy

There's nothing wrong with soy milk. The studies show that soy reduces the risk of prostate cancer in men, and in women it reduces the risk of breast cancer. The cancer risk reduction is caused by the phytoestrogens in soy. The scare that phytoestrogens feminize men is also overblown given that the affix "phyto-" means "plant" and plant estrogens have weak to no effect on humans. It is animal estrogen such as estradiol in dairy milk that has been shown to reduce testosterone levels in men, and there are many studies that suggest dairy milk may increase prostate cancer risk although this is not conclusive. Bottom line is if you're really concerned, just drink almond milk.

Message to Dairy Farmers: Make Almond Milk Instead

Dairy farmers in Australia and Britain are complaining about not being paid enough. It turns out that the dairy business is not that profitable.

My advice to any dairy farmers is that they should sell their farm right away and get out of the dairy business. With the proceeds of their sale, they should move into a different business, such as making almond milk.

Making dairy milk involves handling cows, which means artificially inseminating them, feeding them, killing their babies, extracting their milk, and cleaning their feces. The dairy business involves very difficult and costly torturing and slaughtering of cows and all that evil doesn't even pay the bills because dairy milk only sells for $1 per liter.

Almond milk, on the other hand, is easy to make. Just buy almonds, mix it with water, put calcium, emulsifiers, etc in it, and sell it for $2 per liter (or more).

With the rising popularity of the vegan and paleo diets, demand for dairy is only going down. Jump off the leaking ship before it sinks!
